They're mostly all going to die. Mostly

They're mostly all going to die. Mostly

The way the game works, is as it did in the first thread, is as follows:
Using an RNG, the MotU will select one player. This player will be the only survivor come the end of the game.

However, if a player attempts to kill themselves to test whether or not they are the survivor... there will be no winner.

Hello and welcome to "WE'RE ALL DOING TO DIE" 2.0, or "They're mostly all going to die. Mostly".

As part of my tenure as first Master of the Universe (MotU), I will be changing things up a little. Not only to make things more reasonable for the players, but to make things more fun for the MotU as well.

You each begin with 32 unallocated points to distribute how you like amongst three categories:
  • SMARTS (Intelligence & Wisdom)
  • VIGOUR (Dexterity & Charisma)
  • BULK (Strength & Constitution)

As some of you know, we have a built in "roll" mechanic. Anywhere on the forum, you can use
1d20 rolled for a total of: 2 (2)
or any other type of die or number of dice you can think of; 1d40, 3d6, 4d20 ([Image: 53013011872678125040.gif]).
The type the MotU needs to use with the 32 point system can be either "1d20" or "3d20", depending on the MotU's preference - either rolling once for each stat, or rolling all three stats at once using a 3d20 command.
When using "3d20", the order of the numbers represent SMARTS, VIGOUR and BULK in that order. As a player, you do not need to worry about rolling anything - this is just for MotU use.

For simplicity's sake, we'll just be going on the basis of "a successful roll makes the gist of your post work out, an unsuccessful roll makes the gist of your post go to shit". It's more fun for the MotU that way, as they will then have to figure out a way of determining how all the players' throws fit in with one another.

Anything HIGHER than your stat is a FAIL, anything UNDER your stat is a SUCCESS
i.e. your stat is 10 and the MotU rolls a 12, you need to have 2 more points in that stat in order to be successful. If your stat is 10 and the MotU rolls you a 6, you have passed. After all: each stat is your skill level, and if your skill isn't high enough, you will find it more difficult to perform the task!

Imagine someone has picked the following stats:

BULK: 12

At the end of every round of actions (such as players attempting to avoid a trap), the MotU will make a roll for each character and determine how the story will progress, and the forum will return something like this for them:

SMARTS: 1d20 rolled for a total of: 15 (15)
VIGOUR: 1d20 rolled for a total of: 18 (18)
BULK: 1d20 rolled for a total of: 2 (2)

SMARTS, VIGOUR, BULK: 3d20 rolled for a total of: 50 (11, 20, 19)

The MotU will probably decide something like:
You pass the first two but fail Bulk, so you successfully acknowledge and avoid the trap, but it causes you to swerve and break your ankle.

In the second three, all of these are an automatic fail, though that's not necessarily game over for whatever you were attempting. The MotU may well decide to pass you on the 11, because it's much closer than the others to any of the example stats.

All you need to do when joining the next game is assign your 32 points into SMARTS, VIGOUR and BULK, in that order. You do NOT need to roll for every single post.
The MotU will roll on behalf of each player at the end of every round: one round passes each time every player has attempted an action and the MotU has canonized the results. After the MotU's post, a new round begins and you can attempt a new action.

Your first post in-game should include:
  • Character name
  • Species (you could be anything: human, centaur, fire spirit, skeleton with bat wings, a tadpole... it's entirely up to you).
  • Physical appearance
  • Anything else relevant to your character that could affect your story - for example, do they have a false leg? Are they blind in one eye? Do they have a rare blood disorder? Be creative.

A few ground rules:

  1. Follow the MotU's lead. The story is planned out in advance, after all.
  2. Respect your fellow players! Make them feel like they're not going to die, even though it's possible all of you will.
  3. Put all OOC content within spoiler tags:
like this

if you so wish.
4. If you don't want to play any more, PM the MotU so they can work on altering the story.
  5. If you die, you're more than welcome to return as a ghost to taunt/spectate the survivors.

Finally - here is a list of the previous rounds:

And so we begin. Welcome to...

You awaken in a DARK ROOM, covered in BLOOD and DIRT. Some of it is MAYBE POOP.
The blood does not appear to be yours; other than a SEVERE HEADACHE you are OSTENSIBLY UNINJURED.

Taking stock of your surroundings, you take advantage of a shaft of light streaming in from a high up DIRTY WINDOW to pick out a number of OTHER SHAPES lying on the floor. Judging by the SMELL, you determine that at least some of them are DEAD, but then you take a whiff of yourself and realise where the stench is coming from. YOU STINK.

Sitting up and wiping GRIME from your face, you register movement from some of the OTHER ENTITIES in the room. It is difficult to make out any features, and so you use your VOCAL CAPACITY to introduce yourself.

What is your NAME, what are your PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES, and what are your SMARTS, VIGOUR, & BULK levels?
You can allocate up to 32 STAT POINTS total.

important information regarding attire:
  • One of you is wearing a prison guard uniform.
The following roll will determine who that is, based on the order you signed up -
    (Draal = 1, Zalak123 = 2, dinowoman = 3, SinistARGH = 4, dabigman777 = 5, twlboaj = 6):
    1d6 rolled for a total of: 6 (6)
So twlboaj has the prison guard uniform.
  • See original post for an explanation of STAT POINTS.

RE: They're mostly all going to die. Mostly
My name is Slayer X. I am a male human slayer of various things, particularly, evil creatures of the night. I keep my face hidden underneath a shadow cast by my pointy brown wizardry hat, though I am no wizard. I'm about 5'2" feet tall.

Smarts: 13
Vigour: 13
Bulk: 6
